How To Get Involved

There are several ways you can become more involved with the Addison Historical Society and Addison Historical  Museum.

Volunteer Opportunities
The Addison Historical Museum has several volunteer opportunities available.
Collections Volunteers:  assist in the numbering, photographing, cataloguing, inventorying and rehousing of the museum's three dimensional artifact collection; assist with computer data entry, assist with research and installation of exhibits.
Archives Volunteers:  assist in the numbering, photographing, inventorying, rehousing and reformatting documents, photographs, ephemera, clippings and audio visual materials in the museum's extensive archival collections; research and answer research inquiries; conduct oral history interviews.
Museum Docents:  assist by providing guided tours of the museum buildings to the general public, groups and children groups such as schools and scouts.
Program/Special Events Volunteers:  assist by staffing one of the museum buildings during Village Special Events such as Summer Rock 'N Wheels/Museum Craft Show Thursday nights, Heritage Fest/ Fall Craft Fair, Christmas Tree Lighting/Holiday Craft Fair, and Memorial Day Open House; assist with Historical Society programming for adults and children.

Donations
The Historical Society accepts donations of archival material and artifacts relating to Addison History for the museum collection.  The museum has the capability to scan original photographs and documents.  Please contact the Museum Coordinator at 630-628-1433 or email museum@addison-il.org if you have an item you are interested in donating.

The Addison Historical Society is a 501 (c) 3, not-for-profit organization and accepts financial donations.  Donations support the preservation and care of the archival and artifact collection,  the development  and installation of museum exhibits,  programming expenses and the Historical Society College Scholarship.  For more information about how you can help, please contact the Museum Coordinator at 630-628-1433 or email museum@addison-il.org.

Membership
You can support the preservation and promotion of local history by joining the Addison Historical Society.  The Society presents four local history programs,  children's programming, a Pot Luck Dinner, and a field trip to museum or historical site each year. Members receive email communication about all Historical Society and Village sponsored events.  Annual dues are $10 for an Individual, $15 for a Family and $15 for a Business, Institutional or Professional Membership.  For a member applications, please email museum@addison-il.org.
