ANNUAL TELETHON OPENS ITS DOORS, HOPES TO GARNER LIVE AUDIENCE'Brunch with Santa' Added to 17th Community Switchboard TelethonEach year, the Community Switchboard Telethon, which airs live on Addison Community Television, features local performers who entertain in the hopes of attracting donors who pledge funds to the local food pantry and service referral office. While that goal remains the same, a new twist added to the event will allow these entertainers to perform before a live audience while bringing in added funds to the Community Switchboard. The 17th Community Switchboard Telethon will feature 'Brunch with Santa' when it airs live on ACTV Channel 17 on Sunday, Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Village Hall rotunda, at One Friendship Plaza. Tickets to the brunch are available at Switchboard Office at 105 E. Lake St., at Village Hall, and at local churches. Tickets may be purchased for $15 per person; $10 for children age 5 -12. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $17 per person; $11 for children. "Residents of Addison have been enjoying and donating to the Community Switchboard telethon each year from the comfort of their home, and we appreciate that," said Mayor Larry Hartwig. "This year, we hope they'll come and enjoy it in person." Picture with Santa may be purchased during the brunch, and toys for the needy may be donated. Pledges for the Switchboard will taken, as well as bids for the miniature reindeer which have been decorated by local businesses, and are displayed in Village Hall. Entertainment for the day will include the Addison Trail Madrigal Singers, Orchesis and String Ensembles; St. Joseph School Choir; Jazz Band groups from Indian Trail Junior High School; Jimmy's Bavarians; Dance Center Dancers; soloist Rev. Catiana McKay from Good Samaritan United Methodist Church; and Kim's Black Belt Karate School. The broadcast will be emceed by Dale Bower, Samantha Emrick and Dee Hanrahan, and will feature panels of local groups manning phones to accept pledges, including members of the Addison Village Board of Trustees. |
