Addison By The Slice Has All The Right Ingredients

Local Vendors Work Hard To Keep Up With Large Crowd

Within the first 15 minutes of Addison By The Slice, the Village of Addison's first ever pizza bakeoff, the seven participants knew it was going to be a good night.

After 15 minutes they were scrambling to get more pizzas to meet the demand.

Officials estimated over 1,000 hungry residents flocked to the Village Greens on August 6 to see what Addison's best had to offer. It was beyond what everyone had expected for the first year. The participants were all vying for bragging rights to see who dished out the best pie in Addison.

Seven different awards were handed out that night during the intermission of the Limited Edition Big Band Concert. The winners included:

bulletBest Crust – Casino's Pizza
bulletBest Deep Dish/Stuffed Pizza – Casino's Pizza
bulletBest Specialty Pizza – Casino's Pizza
bulletBest Thin Crust Pizza – Mannino's Pizza
bulletBest Sausage – Nardi's Pizza
bulletJudge's Gem – Nardi's Pizza

The most coveted award, the People's Choice Award, went to Nardi's Pizza. The judges included Sergio Abate from Villa Marcella in Elk Grove Village and Alex Venuti from Venuti's in Villa Park. Despite constantly running out of pizza, which was the best problem they could have, the participants loved the exposure. All the participants are expected to return next year with the bakeoff only to get larger.
