A beautiful evening brought out the hungry crowds Tuesday night, as more than 2,000 area residents came out to sample the best pizza Addison has to offer, at the 4th Annual “Addison By the Slice” Pizza Bakeoff.

Coinciding with the weekly Concert in the Park and National Night Out, attendees were treated to the sounds from local musician Joe Kalish and the Limited Edition Big Band and visited with Crime Prevention Officers from the Addison Police Department.

But it the was the opportunity to sample pizza from seven different local pizza kitchens that once again drew the crowds, who were then given the opportunity to vote for the best pizza, in the “People’s Choice Award.”

Six judges also gave out awards in seven categories during blind taste test inside Village Hall. Five different restaurants received awards during the contest.

The winners were:

	Best Pizza Sauce – Bacci’s Pizza, 613 W. Lake Street
	Best Cheese Pizza – Giordano’s Pizza, 1323 W. Lake Street
	Best Sausage Pizza – TIE – Nardi’s Tower of Pizza, 23 N. Addison Road and Pyramid Club, 236 W. Lake Street
	Best Deep Dish/Stuffed Pizza – Giordano’s Pizza
	Best Thin Crust Pizza –Bacci’s Pizza
	Best Specialty Pizza – TIE – John’s Pizza, 100 E. Lake Street and Giordano’s
	Judge’s Choice – Bacci’s Pizza

Attendees determined the final award by casting ballots throughout the evening. For the 4th consecutive year, the People’s Choice was awarded to Nardi’s Tower of Pizza.

	Rose Marie Mikoljak, longtime Addison columnist and resident, now a writer with the Chicago Tribune
	Marie Lazzara, writer with the Addison Independent
	Vicki Tedeschi, Addison resident, and a writer with the Chicago Tribune
	Jeremiah Green, of Corky’s Catering here in Addison
