STILL HUNGRY? 'ADDISON BY THE SLICE' READY TO DELIVER

Six Local Restaurants to Compete in Pizza Bakeoff

The third helping of "Addison By the Slice" is just around the corner, ready to serve the best pizza Addison has to offer. Last year more than 2,000 people turned out, doubling the attendance during the event's debut in 2002.

This year six restaurants will sell $1.00 samples during the Pizza Bakeoff, scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. on the Village Green, just east of the Village Hall, at One Friendship Plaza.

Judges will determine winners in several categories: Best Sausage, Best Thin Crust, Best Deep Dish/Stuffed, Best Specialty and Judges' Choice. However, the most coveted award - the People's Choice Award - will be determined by attendees.

Once again, the event is being held on National Night Out, and will include participation by the Addison Police Department. After sampling pizza from as many vendors as they like, attendees can visit the National Night Out booth to cast their ballot for the People's Choice Award.

The great sounds of the Limited Edition Big Band will be enjoyed beginning at 7:30 p.m., and kids can visit with Ozzie, mascot of the Kane County Cougars from 6 p.m. until the concert begins.

Winners in the pizza bakeoff will be announced following the concert. Nardi's Pizza has held the top prize for two years running, and goes for the three-peat this year.

Participating restaurants are:
