First Ever Pizza Bakeoff To Be Hosted August 6The Village of Addison announces the first ever pizza bakeoff. The 2002 Bakeoff, “Addison By The Slice”, will take place on August 6, 2002. Located on the Village Greens east of the Village Hall the public is free to sample the different pizzas from local Addison restaurants. The fest begins at 6:00 p.m. and will last until 9:00 p.m., but come before 7:30 p.m. so you can cast your vote for the best pizza in Addison. “Addison By The Slice” coincides with the Addison Police Department’s National Night Out and part of a series of Concerts In The Park. The Limited Edition Big Band will kick off the concert in the park at 7:30 p.m. During the first intermission of the concert awards for the pizza bakeoff, which range from best deep dish to best specialty pizza, will be announced. Five restaurants have already confirmed with more to come. The restaurants scheduled to appear as of June 13 are Mannino’s Pizza, 503 W. Lake St., Sal’s Little Sicily Pizza, 815 S/ Rowhling Rd., Chuck’s Pizza, 507 S. Addison Rd., Aurelio’s Pizza, 1455 W. Lake St., and soon to open Home Run Inn Pizza.
