MAYOR’S COMMUNITY CHARITY BALL BREAKS ALL RECORDS
15th Annual Event Distributes $68,000 to Local Charities,
Organizations
The 15th Annual Mayor’s Community Charity Ball – held Nov. 12 at Alta Villa
Banquets – brought in a record number of people and donations, allowing for its
host, Mayor Larry Hartwig, to distribute nearly $68,000 in net proceeds to 17
sponsoring organizations at Monday evening’s Village Board meeting.
“I am proud that in a year that saw so many requests for donations for worthy
causes, Addison still found it in its heart to take care of those in needs
within our own community,” said Mayor Larry Hartwig.
All money earned on behalf of the Village is donated by the Mayor to two local
causes: the Addison Community Switchboard, and the Rotary Club of Addison’s
fundraising drive to build a Safety Town.
More than 625 people had attended the event at $55 per person; $24.44 of each
ticket went to the organization from which the ticket was purchased.
In addition, a cash raffle brought in $14, 465, and the Silent Auction which
offered 184 items brought in nearly half of the event’s profits, $33,920.
Expenses were kept reasonable through the generosity of business who helped to
underwrite some of the costs, including Alta Villa Banquets, Allied Waste
Services, Oxford Bank, DiCianni Graphics, Addison Floral and Artisti Floral.
All of the charities and organizations are local and will use the money earned
to make a direct impact on Addison. The 17 sponsoring organizations were the
Addison Community Switchboard, Addison Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Addison
Center for the Arts, Concord Lutheran School, Rotary Club of Addison, Kiwanis
Club of Addison, Woman’s Club, Addison Trail Theatre Boosters, Addison Trail
Music Boosters, Kinights of Columbus, Sertoma Club, NorthEast DuPage Special
Recreation Association, American Association of University Women – Addison
Branch, Parks & Recreation Foundation, Student Participation Center, Sister
Cities and Medinah Shriners.
