COMMUNITY TURNS OUT IN FORCE TO HELP LOCAL CHARITIES

Fourteen Organizations to Share Profits of 11th Annual Mayor's Ball

The 11th Annual Mayor's Community Charity Ball drew nearly 350 people to Alta Villa Banquets November 17, and raised more funds than ever before for local charities and service organizations.

Early estimates show that more than $20,000 may be distributed by year's end, topping last year's figures of approximately $18,000 in profits.

"This year, we know that people have already been asked to donate to any number of worthwhile causes," said Mayor Larry Hartwig, host of the event. "It was heartening to see that our residents still came out in full force to support our local causes."

All of the profits of the charity event go to organizations in Addison. These profits come from the sale of tickets, at $50 per person, and items sold during the silent auction. More than seventy items were available this year, including jewelry, sports memorabilia, art works and hotel getaways. More than $11,000 was raised from the silent auction alone.

The Village's portion of the ticket sales will be donated by Mayor Hartwig to the Addison Community Switchboard, the local food pantry and service referral office. The presentation will take place during the Community Switchboard Telethon on Sunday, Dec.9.

The remaining organizations will be presented with their share of the profits at the Addison Village Board Meeting on Monday, Dec. 17 at 8 p.m., in the Village Hall Board Room, at One Friendship Plaza. These organizations are: Kiwanis Club of Addison, Rotary Club of Addison, Lions Club, Woman's Club, Knights of Columbus, Sertoma Club, Addison Association of Industry & Commerce, Concord Lutheran School, Driscoll Catholic High School, Addison Trail Theatre Boosters, Addison Trail Music Boosters, Addison Historical Society and Addison Center for the Arts.
