POLICE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL COLLECT FOR HURRICANE RELIEF
Volunteers Will Ask Residents to “Fill the Police Hat” This
Week
Members of the Addison Police Department’s Communications Division have been
so touched by the plight of those affected by Hurricane Katrina, they have
volunteered to coordinate a week-long donation drive from Sunday, Sept. 11
through Sunday, Sept. 18 at locations throughout the Village of Addison.
Much as firefighters annually raise money by asking residents to “Fill the
Boot,” the Addison Police Department will collect by asking people to “Fill the
Police Hat” to benefit hurricane victims.
Police Officers, Records Personnel, Dispatchers, Community Service Officers,
Detectives and Volunteers will man the following intersections from 7:30 – 10:30
a.m. and 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. daily: Army Trail Road/Swift Road, Army Trail Road/Rohlwing
Road, Army Trail Road/Mill Road, Lake Street/Addison Road, and Lake
Street/Lombard Road.
In addition, they will collect at the following locations: Lake Addison Plaza
(containing Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc) 8 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., Jewel Food Store 8 a.m.
- 6:30 p.m., and Marcus Cinema 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Lastly, they will collect at Centennial Park during the Italian Fest on Sept. 17
& 18 from 3 – 9 p.m.
Please give generously at these locations throughout the week.
