Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA)
The members of the Addison Police Department take pride in the fact that they are a nationally accredited agency, knowing that less than 2% of all the law enforcement agencies in the country have achieved this distinction.
Lincoln Award
The Lincoln Foundation for Business Excellence announced that the Village of Addison has received the prestigious Lincoln Award for Commitment to Excellence for the year 2001.
Illinois Crime Prevention Association (ICPA)
The Addison Police Department is a proud member of the Illinois Crime Prevention Association, (ICPA). The ICPA is a statewide organization comprised of law enforcement and security professionals working toward a common goal of reducing crime and victimization.
Every year the association recognizes outstanding crime prevention units, crime prevention organizations, outstanding citizen volunteers, and outstanding senior citizen volunteers. In recent years the Addison Police Department and affiliated volunteers or organizations have been recognized:
- In 2000, the Addison Police Crime Prevention Section earned the ‘Crime Prevention Unit of the Year’ award.
- In 2001, the Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (SALT) group, earned the ‘Organization of the Year’ award.
TRIAD
The Addison Police Department is a proud member of the Illinois TRIAD association. TRIAD is comprised of the following groups, aging network, law enforcement, and criminal justice. Its purpose is: To improve the overall coordinated response to elderly victims of crime that focuses on the safety of the victim and the accountability of offenders.
The Village of Addison SALT group is part of the TRIAD network. In recent years the following Village of Addison SALT participants have been recognized:
- In 2002, an Addison Police Department volunteer and SALT member, (Nick Mangiaracina), earned the 'Senior Citizen Volunteer of the Year' award.
- In 2003, an Addison Police Department volunteer and SALT member, (Pete Cuchetto), earned the 'Senior Citizen Volunteer of the Year' award.
